Back on January 7, I posted a story titled Talk About Discrimination. (Just scroll down a few posts) It told of a young girl who had won a contest from a radio station, only to have it taken away when the station manager learned the 'girl' was really a boy. I received a comment on it that I want to share:

Obviously the outrage over this is because of the discrimination angle. But one thing that's particularly creepy about this that annoys me is that if the radio producer thought sexual preference was even relevant in some way to this contest then that seems to indicate that they thought this meeting between the band and a random fan who won the contest is somehow meant to be more than just platonic. And that's just icky. Unless they were thinking they were arranging some sort of romantic "date" between a fangirl and the band, it doesn't matter whether or not the fan has any sexual attraction for the band.
In other words the fact that they thought the fan had to be a heterosexual girl meant they were ... grooming. Ick.
Personally, I think the comment is pretty much on the spot. I need to go back to chessi's page and see if she ever made any progress in reversing that reversal.......
