Obviously the outrage over this is because of the discrimination angle. But one thing that's particularly creepy about this that annoys me is that if the radio producer thought sexual preference was even relevant in some way to this contest then that seems to indicate that they thought this meeting between the band and a random fan who won the contest is somehow meant to be more than just platonic. And that's just icky. Unless they were thinking they were arranging some sort of romantic "date" between a fangirl and the band, it doesn't matter whether or not the fan has any sexual attraction for the band. In other words the fact that they thought the fan had to be a heterosexual girl meant they were ... grooming. Ick.
