well, i learned more about this thing in my lungs. so far only 2 of the 3 cultures are testing positive for it, and a firm diagnosis requires at least three positives. so, i've given one additional sample while at the hospital today and have two more to give. chances are likely i do have this infection though. it hopefully will not require hospitalization unless it either gets worse, or my lungs get further compromised with something else--like pneumonia or something. after i go back to pulmonary in 4-8 weeks, maybe treatment can start. however, this isn't anything like a 10 day regimen of antibiotics. no, this is a 3 antibiotic regimen and will last 12-18 months...........sounds like a pain in the a**. i need to check with my drug plan and hope that they will cover all 3 of them because i sure can't afford any large drug bills every month. oh, well, we will see how it goes from here. in the meantime, i should hopefully be back to captioning again by tomorrow.
Hay, having lost my Wife to Lung Disease years back, I know any kind of serious Lung Infection is extremely trying. Thoughts and prayers go out to you alexis.
ReplyDeletethanks, Loki............i already have the COPD damage from being cool and smoking for 45 years. this new this is a sort of fungus is ASPERGILLUS FLAVUS GROUP (ASPFLA). it is a rather uncommon infection that started with certain groups of people and is slowly spreading to a greater populace. so, i really didn't need this, and with winter coming, i'll just get even more paranoid whenever anyone coughs or sneezes
DeletePeople don't understand that Lung Damage is permanent. We treat heart disease pretty well, but short of a lung transplant, we mostly just help people with lung disease cope. I hope your treatment options work out (aren't too expensive) Keep a positive attitude, and chase off those sick people. >:)
